Pyramidal Park
Rebuilding Parking garage
Daehyun Shim
As self-driving and car-sharing system is widely used, the number of vehicles is expected to decrease and the demand for the parking spaces which were originally located in the downtown areas will gradually shrink. Pyramidal Park is intended to rebuild unused, dilapidated parking garage into public space. Some of the pillars, beams, and slabs of the existing parking building were removed, a gallery, roof garden, rolling hill and sunken lounge were constructed. The primary access leading to the park is located at the building’s northeastward façade. The façade, hanging from the steel wires, dramatically project sunlight and shadow over the sunken lounge and make the shape of the space.
